This morning when I was sitting at the kitchen table, watching Isla play while Theo napped. Sipping my coffee, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the hustle harder messages we see. "Rise and grind!" "Work while others sleep!" It can be so motivating, right?
There’s something exciting about chasing big dreams. I’ve felt that thrill.
When I started my business, I was SO driven. I wanted to prove I could do it. And I did!
I learned new skills, overcame obstacles, and did things I never thought possible. The pride and satisfaction were AMAZING. 💪
But then, there’s the other side.
One night, after a long day of juggling work and kids, I was completely drained. I had pushed through the day, thinking I could rest later. By the time Matt got home, I was on the verge of tears.
The pressure to keep up with the hustle had left me EXHAUSTED, both physically and mentally. I realized that in my quest to do it all, I had forgotten to take care of myself.
Burnout is REAL, and it's NO JOKE.
We often hear about success stories—those who make it big through hard work. But we don’t hear about the sacrifices, the late nights, the missed family moments. Is this relentless hustle really worth it if it means sacrificing our health and happiness?
I’ve heard so many stories of people who have given up their hobbies, neglected their relationships, and even harmed their health for success. I
t’s a clear reminder that while hard work is important, it’s just as crucial to have a life outside of work. We need balance. ❤️
There’s also the issue of perfectionism and comparison. Scrolling through social media, it's easy to feel like you're not doing enough.
Everyone seems to be always productive, achieving amazing things, and living their best lives. It can make you feel inadequate, like you’re ALWAYS falling short. 😔
But here's what I’ve learned: It’s okay to take a step back. It’s okay to BREATHE. Rest and relaxation are just as important as hard work.
In fact, they’re essential.
So this afternoon I decided to take a break. I closed my laptop, put my phone away, and spent the afternoon with Isla and Theo. We played in the yard, laughed, and just enjoyed each other’s company.
It was a simple moment, but it filled my heart with so much joy. These moments are just as valuable, if not more so, than any work win. 🌸
So, where does that leave us? For me, it’s all about finding BALANCE. Hustle when you need to, but also make time for rest and self-care.
Celebrate your wins, but don’t forget to enjoy the journey. Set big goals, but also set limits.
Listen to your body and mind—they’ll give you signals when you need a break. Taking time to recharge isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a crucial part of long-term success.
And remember, success looks different for everyone. Don’t get caught up in someone else’s idea of it. Decide what it means to YOU and go after that with passion and purpose.
At the end of the day, your well-being is what matters most. Make time for the things that bring you joy, whether it’s spending time with loved ones, doing a hobby, or just taking a moment to relax.
You deserve to enjoy the journey just as much as the destination.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! How do you feel about hustle culture? Has it motivated you or left you feeling burned out?
