When it all started, I had felt lonely in my business. Like I had nobody else could understand what I was going through...
I wanted to create a space where we could all help each other, share our wins and struggles, and grow together. These past 5 years have been more amazing than I ever imagined.
I remember those months of trying to come up with the perfect name for our group. I wanted something that truly reflected the heart and soul of business, not just what they teach in school.
Every night, I’d lay awake, tossing around ideas that just didn’t feel right. I was determined to find a name that captured the essence of what I wanted this community to be—a place of real connection, support, and growth.
After so many failed attempts, the name #BIZSISTER finally clicked. It felt perfect. I was so excited that I bought the domain immediately and started the Facebook group right away. But then, the nerves set in. I was too scared to tell anyone for months. I kept thinking, “What if they don’t like it? What if I fail? What if I’m not good enough?”
Changing my niche, my brand, and my business was one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever done. I was worried about not being qualified, and that someone else would always do it better. The fear of failure was real, and it kept me up at night more times than I can count.
I started my business without a college education or a business degree. I’ve never taken a formal class in graphic design or marketing. I live in a little house in a small town in what most people call the most boring province in Canada. But to me, it’s peaceful, and it’s home.
I don't live in some fancy high rise apartment in a major city. I don't drive a fancy car. And my basement office is where I learn everything I do through DIY projects, YouTube, and countless trials and errors. It’s a humble setup, but it’s where I figure it out and it's also where the magic happens.
Heck. I don’t even see myself as an expert. I’m just someone who likes to create new things and is passionate about helping others. I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, but each one has taught me something.
And even though it's been super challenging at time - broken links, slow websites, late nights and early mornings) I’m thankful that the little things I’ve done have helped others in a positive way!
Seeing the impact this community has had makes every sleepless night and every moment of doubt worth it. Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support, encouragement, and belief in this community have made all the difference.
